Ronald S.'s Story
Life
I graduated w/a BA in Economics from Penn State in 01/1993.
Over the years since graduation, I have become quite the sports nut (especially hockey, soccer, and lacrosse - - anything with nets on the ground, goalkeepers, and an object to blast into the net). At one time, I practically made what is now the Wells Fargo Complex in Philly somewhat of a second home (or third), and I visited the Meadowlands in East Rutherford NJ on numerous occasions for Major League Soccer (MLS) matches. I was a member of a bowling league in the King of Prussia PA area for 9 years (my highest score is 226), but I don't plan on joining the PBA (yet).
Workplace
After working in retail for 13 years (1987-2000), I finally got out of that atmosphere and into the financial service environment. Actually, I started working in financial services (loans/credit lines) in 1995, while still working retail part-time. I worked in the consumer loan division of an info-tech company ...Expand for more
from 1995 to 2002, then moved to a small-business-focused credit card company in mid-2002. The job was quite stressful (I think of the telephone headset as the 207th bone in my body), but rather rewarding from a financial perspective.
Unfortunately, I was laid off from the financial services job in 2009 during the recession, and was unemployed for 16 months. I finally found a civil service job in June 2010, but the job was highly stressful in a rather unstable urban area. I then moved back into retail full-time (working overnight) in Nov 2011, and am trying to climb back up the ladder once again. In February 2015, I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (Asperger syndrome), which helped to explain much of my quirkiness over the past 40 years (clumsiness; strong attention to detail; fascination with mathematics and grammar; difficulty distinguishing between sarcasm and literal expression; anxiety; depression; problems with multi-tasking; etc.).
